Million dollar ride
Space
Adventures, based out of Arlington, Virginia, USA is working with
Russian space officials to offer the ultimate in space tourism. For
a whopping 100 million USD (approximately 70 million pound sterling)
per person, two intrepid explorers and their Russian pilot would spend
10 to 21 days in a claustrophobic Soyuz space module on a mission
to go around the moon and back. The time variation would depend on
whether the capsule stops off at the International Space Station to
drop off supplies.
The paying astronauts will still have to work during their trip, and
they would also receive extensive cosmonaut training in many key areas
essential to the flight, including control of the spacecraft. Whilst
in space the tourists would conduct scientific experiments and record
important information throughout the journey.
