The
Chevrolet XP-882 was one of Chevrolet's early atttempts at producing
a mid engine sports car.
The XP-882 concept was first shown in 1970, but during its lifetime
underwent several changes and was displayed at Motor Shows up
till the mid '70s.
Initially the car was powered by a 400 cubic inch V8 positioned
transversley behinf the cabin, later this was changed for a
four-rotor Wankel rotary engine. After this the XP-882 was renamed
the Aerovette and given another small-block V8.
