RWD
is the abbreviation for Rear Wheel Drive. RWD is usually found in
more sporting or powerful vehicles. To transfer power from a front
mounted engine (and transmission) to the rear wheels, the transmission
is connected to a rearend (located midway between the rear wheels)
by a driveshaft running the length of the passenger compartment.
In the rearend the power from the driveshaft is split and then transfered
to the two rear wheels by smaller driveshafts or CV joints.
