Active Suspension

Unlike a conventional suspension system which uses springs and dampers, an active suspension system is a computer controlled suspension system which uses power actuators to control the ride height, damping rate and stiffness to provide the best setting depending on conditions.

Many active suspension systems fitted to high-end luxury or sports vehicles monitor and change their setting hundreds of times a second to keep the vehicle in optimum contact with the road surface.

An active suspension system varies from an adjustable suspension system due to the fact that all the changes on an active suspension system occur while the vehicle is in motion.
