Alternator

alternator
An alternator is the component of a vehicle's electrical system that converts mechanical energy from a fan belt or serpentine belt into direct electrical current needed to operate the ignition and electrical accessories, and to recharge the battery when the engine is running. If the alternator fails, the engine will continue to run until the battery is completely discharged.
