Boxer
(Engine)
A
boxer engine, also known as a flat engine, is an engine in
which in which the cylinder banks are opposed and horizontal
to the ground. The name comes from the idea that the pistons
are thrusting or “boxing” towards the opposing bank. A box
engine has the advantages of a low center of gravity, improved
cooling, and a small height, making it a good choice for cars
with a low profile.
