Brake Fade

The term brake fade describes the loss of braking efficiency due to overheating of the brakes. Brake fade happens most commonly when going down a long, steep hill, during high performance driving, or other in other circumstances of sustained brake use such as in heavy, altering velocity traffic. It is more often associated with drum brakes than disk brakes.
