Cathode

The cathode is the terminal of a device, such as a battery, where electric current flows out. It is sometimes said that the cathode is the negative terminal but this is not always true. For example, if a battery is discharging, the negative terminal is the anode; if the same battery is recharging, the negative terminal is the cathode.
