Chrome

Chrome, with reference to an automobile, describes any unpainted metallic surface that has a shiny, mirror-like surface. Traditionally, many external elements of a car, such as bumpers, window frames, handles, wing mirrors, trim, etc., were given a chrome finish by taking iron alloy parts and electroplating them with the element chromium. This process gives a hard, corrosion-resistant lustrous covering. However, most modern cars have very little chrome, except sometimes on alloy wheels.
