A
diagnostic code is a code given by the engine management computer
to help locate and isolate problem areas of a vehicles engine
system. A diagnostic code can only help identify problems
which are isolated to the systems controlled by the vehicles
onboard computer. For example it can inform of a faulty sensor
in the engine, it cannot warn of a worn wheel bearing.
