Downforce
is negative aerodynamic lift. Downforce is an important component
in vehicle handling especially at speed. A high degree of
downforce can result in a lower top speed due to the high
amount of drag imposed on the car. Many racing and sports
car have adjustable spoilers which can alter the airflow over
the car and increase or decrease downforce.
