Ramcharging
Inertia
Ramcharging is a method of forced induction that uses a pressure
wave effect associated with the oscillating motion of the
air in the intake system due to the opening and closing of
the inlet valve. By adjusting the length of the intake pipe, it is
possible to arrange for the crest of the pressure wave to
coincide with the opening of the valve. This results in better
filling of the cylinder and therefore an increase in density
of oxygen at the valve port.
