Refrigerant
A
refrigerant is any substance which is used in the air conditioning
system to facilitate heat transfer. R-12 used to be the standard
refrigerant of most vehicles. However this has now been superseded
by R-13a which is less harmful to the environment. Most air
conditioning systems which were originally designed to work
with the R-12 refrigerant can be upgraded to run on R-13a.
