Rocker

A
rocker panel is a narrow strip of metal, about 3 - 4 inches
(7.5 - 10 cm) wide, that runs along the bottom of the car
body below the doors. Rocker panels are usually rubberized
on their external surface with a tough protectant. Their function
is shield the bodywork from flying stones and other debris,
thrown up by the car's wheels
