Timing
Belt

Also called the cam belt, a belt that connects the crankshaft with the camshaft, driving the camshaft, which in turn controls
when the engine's valves open and close. The timing belt is generally made
of reinforced rubber with a series of evenly spaced ribs or
teeth on the inner surface, although in older cars the timing
belt may actually be a chain.
If a timing belt breaks or comes loose it can cause massive
internal damage to the engine. Timing belts should always
be checked and replaced at the recommended intervals specified
by the manufacturer.
