The Tunnels of Vietnam were home to thousands of Vietcong soldiers,
and their families, during the Vietnam war.
Not so much tunnels as underground towns. Many boasted kitchens,
first aid posts, dorms and even classrooms. One of the best
to visit is Cu Chi situated 45 miles north west of Ho-Chi-Minh.
There are 75 miles of tunnels at Cu Chi, with two tunnel areas
here that can be visited, the un-restored Ben Binh tunnels and
the Ben Duoc tunnels which have been restored, widened and generally
are more accessible for the average tourist. |
