The New York marathon is held every year on the first Sunday
in November.
The 26.2-mile race currently begins on the Staten Island side
of the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge. For the last 3 1/2 miles, the
course goes through Central Park, finishing at the Tavern on
the Green.
