The
Airbag helmet from Spanish company APC is the first commercially
available motorcycle helmet to be equipped with an airbag.
The APC Airbag helmet works by using a remote electronic
control box which is attached to the bike. This control
box senses the sharp deceleration of the vehicle which
occurs during a collision. If the deployment threshold
is reached, the airbag inflates immediately. The airbag
protects the cervical area and stabilizes the neck, helping
to prevent rapid movements during the accident.
Immediately after the crash, the airbag gradually starts
to deflate. After 5 seconds, the airbag system no longer
provides safety to the wearer. The airbag will not go
off in the case of minor bumps.
The APC Airbag Helmet is available in sizes XS to XL with
two different shell sizes depending on size.
Standard equipment of the APC Airbag System Helmet:
- Front, top and side ventilation
- removable, washable lining
- side cushions
- nose protector
- pre-installation for communication system
