The Bertone Stratos was designed by Marcello Gandini, who also
penned the Lamborghini
Miura and Lamborghini Countach. The Stratos concept was
a development of the Bertone designed Alfa Romeo Carabo concept from 1968, also a
Gandini creation. Access to the interior of the Statos Zero
was done through the hinged windscreen. The Bertone designed
Lancia Stratos Zero prototype used the same engine as the Lancia
1600 HF Fulvia.
Bizzarely the Stratos concept was developed for rallying purposes,
and in 1974 the legendary Lancia Stratos appeared. The production Statos
was powered by a 2.4 litre, mid-mounted V6 from the Ferrari
Dino.
