Despite what you may think, no this Alfa hasn't just taken an
ill-advised detour through a puddle of green paint. This is
in fact the Giulietta G430 iMove which was developed by the
Marangoni tire company.
The Alfa Romeo Giulietta G430 iMove Marangoni was revealed to
the world at the 2010 Bologna Motor Show - home turf for the
Italian tire manufacturer. The car will become the official
show car for Marangoni tires throughout 2011.
Based on an Alfa
Romeo Giulietta 1750 Quadrifoglio Verde, the influences
for the G430 iMove were style, mobility and green living - highlighted
by the special "M-Power iGreen" 235/35R19 tyres developed
for the car. The car also hides a Segway i2 self-balancing electric
vehicle (which fits into the car's boot) for use in pedestrian-only
areas. Inside the G430 iMove is a dashboard-mounted iPad for
surfing the web.
Tires
Of course the real highlight of the Alfa Romeo Giulitta G430
iMove Marangoni are the striking green tires. In this experimental
colored version, M-Power becomes M-Power iGreen, which uses
compounds with high silica content and other innovative materials,
minimizes rolling resistance and consequently fuel consumption.
Fluorescent pigments have also been added to the tire's compound
to provide a glowing light at night.
Interior
The fashion label Conte of Florence were drafted in to design
and create the Giulietta G430 iMove Marangoni's interior. In
designing the interior, as well as using quality materials such
as leather, Alcantara and carbon, Conte of Florence applied
quilting as the leitmotiv to evoke the golfing tradition of
Scotland. Moreover, the large embroidered brand recalls the
Tour Line logo, word with pride by the brand's sponsored players
in official competitions.
Engine
Engine output of the Giulietta G430 iMove Marangoni now stands
at 286 HP, a good 51 HP more than the standard car, with powerful
delivery even at low revs. The power kit also includes a new
bearing-mounted rotary turbine, downpipe complete with metal
catalyst, complete Ragazzon stainless steel exhaust with wide
diameter pipes. The air intake has been modified using a special
carbon fiber air box.
