The
BMW M6 based AC Schnitzer Tension concept is a one-off show
car for use as a technology platform. The heavily modified
BMW M6 has undergone an extensive overhaul of both
aesthetics and mechanics.
The already powerful 'standard' M6 engine has been uprated
to 552 horsepower, and peak torque in the Tension is now 398
lb ft @ 6200. The increased figures are made possible by fitting
a new engine management system, manifold and full length exhaust.
The standard 155 mph speed limiter has also been replaced,
and top speed of the AC Schnitzer Tension is now just over
200 mph.
To reign in the speed, AC Schnitzer has fitted their steroid
junkie M6 with powerful 8 piston calipers and 374 mm ventilated
discs up front, with four piston calipers grabbing the standard
rear rotors. The super light 20" wheels are a special
addition to the Tension Concept, however they will also be
added to AC Schnitzer's line of BMW M5 and M6 special parts.
Handling on the Tension has been improved with the fitment
of 30mm lower, stiffened racing suspension, and front and
rear anti-roll bars.
The body of the AC Schnitzer Tension concept has the most
obvious custom additions. Starting with the front end, both
the front skirt and bonnet have been modified to direct cooling
air over the brakes and engine whilst enhancing the overall
appearance. The side skirts have been altered, and now include
small air vents positioned just in front of the rear wheel.
The
AC Schnitzer rear skirt has also been extensively modified on
the Tension to incorporate both twin exhausts, and an underfloor
spoiler complete with diffuser.
