The
Iacocca Silver 45th Anniversary Edition Ford Mustang is a
special limited edition model produced through a collaboration
between Lee Iacocca, designer Michael Leone, Gaffoglio Family
Metalcrafters, and Galpin Ford.
The 2009 Iacocca Edition Mustang was built to commemorate
45 years of the Mustang, a model which was launched during
Iacocca's time as president of Ford. Nearly two years in the
making, the new business venture under which the special edition
model will be sold is called I Legacy.
The Iacocca Silver 45th Anniversary Ford Mustang is based
on the 2009 Ford Mustang. The bodywork has been extensively,
yet subtly, modified and the overall shape is much cleaner
and sleeker than the standard car. The silver paintwork, which
was hand picked by Iacocca, further highlights the minimalist
styling.
Two engine options are available for the model. Either a naturally
aspirated 4.6 litre V8 which produces 320 horsepower, or a
supercharged version with 400 horsepower are available.
The suspension of the Iacocca 45th Anniversary Edition Mustang
has been upgraded to match the performance potential. A Ford
Racing Handling Package adds firmer springs and recalibrated
shock absorbers. A 14-inch Ford Racing Braking Package is
optional. As a further bonus all suspension components are
covered under a factory Ford warranty.
The interior of the Iacocca Silver Mustang has also been modified
and there is no doubt that the car pays respect to Lee Iacocco.
An "I" badge decorates the sports
steering wheel and the seats feature "Iacocca"
embroidered on the headrests, the aluminium door sills also
bear his name.
Only 45 examples of the Iacocco Silver 45th Anniversary Edition
Ford Mustang are scheduled to be built. The sole distributor
is Galpin Ford in California.
