Working in conjunction with Mercedes-Benz, tuning company Brabus
created the Unimog U500 Black Edition, and unveiled the 12 ton
beast at the 2005 Dubai Motor Show.
The Brabus Unimog U500 Black Edition is designed as a luxury
recreation and utility vehicle for the extremley wealthy. Both
the interior and exterior of the Mercedes U 500 Unimog have
been extensivley revised to make the Black Edition. Additions
include a new front bumper, a polished stainless steel rollover
bar, chrome exhaust pipes, and an interior trimmed with carbon-fibre
and leather.
To keep the occupants happy while on the move the Unimog U500
Black Edition's interior features a 6.5" TV screen for
DVD navigation, and a CD changer coupled to a top notch sound
system. For comfort the passengers can adjust their air conditioning
settings seperatley.
Power for the 12 tonne Brabus Unimog U500 Black Edition comes
from a 6.4 litre, 280 horsepower engine developing 811 lb ft
(1100 Nm) of torque. The EAS transmission allows gear changes
to be made manually or automatically. Switching between the
two modes is possible at any time.
Brabus has designed the Unimog U 500 Black Edition to be used
as an unstoppable off road machine for mountain excursions.
And also as a vehicle for extreme towing.
