17th May 2011:
Oakley Design have just revealed their tuning program for the
Lamborghini
Aventador, and it's all good.
Instead of adding a multitude of pointless spoilers and air
intakes, before bathing the car in some god-awful color combination,
and bolting on some 90's-style wheels - as far too many high-end
tuning companies do - Oakley Design have tastefully added to
the Aventador's already gorgeous lines.
The aerodynamic upgrades fitted to the Oakley Design Lamborghini
Aventador LP760-2 include carbon
fibre door mirrors and engine bay covers, extended front
and rear bumpers, and revised side air intakes behind the doors.
The new side intakes are designed to aid cooling. Which is important
considering the fact Oakley Design intend to extract and additional
60 horsepower out of the engine - for a total of 760 hp and
745Nm (550 lb/ft) of torque.
The extra power comes courtesy of a fiddle with the ECU, a larger
airbox and air intake pipe, and a lightweight titanium exhaust
system.
Perhaps the most interesting aspect to the Oakley Design package
for the Aventador is the fact they intend to offer a conversion
to take the car from AWD to RWD. That's going to make things
very interesting from the driver's seat - probably from the
passenger side too - so Oakley will make it a non-compusory
optional extra. Removal of the Aventador's front differential,
drive shafts and associated front drivetrain parts will reduce
curb weight by around 85kgs (187 lbs).
The Oakley Design Lamborghini Aventador LP760-2 comes fitted
with ultra-light, forged alloy wheels from HRE. These are wrapped
in 20-inch Pirelli PZero tires which are a touch wider than
the standard car's.
Only five Oakley Design Lamborghini Aventador LP760-2's will
be built, each bearing a numbered plaque. Three were sold before
the first car was produced. In addition to this Limited Edition
model, individual parts will be available for Aventador owners
who do not require the complete package.
