Gemballa, based in Leonberg, is one of the top Porsche tuners
in the world. Following in the footsteps of the Gemballa 650
GTR Avalanche and 650 Evo Orange, the Gemballa Turbo GT 550
is also based on the Porsche 997 Turbo.
Gemballa have reworked the 997 Turbo's boxer 6-cylinder engine
to provide 550 horsepower and 780 Nm of torque, 100 more than
in the standard car. Gemballa have achieved these gains with
the addition of a complete performance exhaust system, including
metal sports catalysts, and a modified engine management system.
These performance upgrades give the Gemballa Turbo GT 500 a
0-60 mph time of 3.8 seconds, or 3.6 with overboost, and a top
speed just shy of 200 mph.
The Gemballa Turbo GT 550 has also been fitted with visual enhancements
designed to accentuate the cars overall performance. A new front
spoiler has been fitted to reduce lift on the front axle and
minimise drag. New side skirts pick up where the front spoiler
leaves off, continuing the line down the body. Small air inlets
help to cool the brakes, and provide a race car-like appearance.
At the rear of the Gemballa Turbo GT 550 there is a modified
rear valance which, with the help of a racing grille, allows
everyone to see the performance exhaust. The imposing rear spoiler
not only helps keep the rear of the car firmly planted, it also
has vents in the lover section which funnel air to the turbocharged
engine.
Black 20" wheels, and coil over suspension on all four
corners complete the Turbo GT 550's visual package.
On the inside customers can tailor the Gemballa conversion to
suit their need.
