World famous Porsche tuners Rinspeed, showed their Porsche 997 Carrera S based Rinspeed Indy at the 2005 Frankfurt Auto show.

The Rinspeed 'Indy' name and paint scheme relates to the American oval and F1 race track at Indianapolis, as well as the Indy racing series. Besides the color and graphics, Rinspeed also included some aerodynamic modifications to the Indy's styling package to increase downforce. This includes a redesigned front bumper, side skirts, rear wing and rear apr
on with integrated diffuser.

To improve handling over the standard 997 the Rinspeed Indy is fitted with adjustable coil-over suspension on all four corners, each with individual height and stiffness settings. This addition also lowers the Indy by up to 35mm (1.4"). The Rinspeed Indy's braking has also been upgraded with the addition of high-performance 8 piston calipers and large diameter rotors. The wheels have not been neglected in the makeover and tune-up, and the Rinspeed Indy rides on 8.5x19 inch wheels up front and 11x19 inch rear wheels, both wrapped in Continental SportContact 2 rubber.

The Rinspeed Indy has a sparse interior inline with original Porsche RS thinking. Modifications to the Indy include the removal of Porsche's seats, swapped for more racing inspired bucket seats, and the deletion of the rear seats. To improve driver feel and contact both the sports steering wheel and shift knob of the Rinspeed Indy have been covered in Alacantra suede.
