North American VAG tuning company STaSIS have just released
the specs for their ultimate R8 conversion.
Based on the Audi R8 V10, the STaSIS tuned R8 V10 Challenge
Extreme Edition features a range of performance components which
significantly enhance the car's potential.
The 5.2 litre V10 has been treated to an Eaton / Magnusson TVS
2300 supercharger running 7.5 psi of boost, independent charge
cooler system to ensure consistent high power output, CNC billet
alloy machined intake plenum for durability and strength, high
performance STaSIS ECU remap and a 3.0 inch TIG welded stainless
steel, cross-flow exhaust system. With all those new bits of
metal the STaSIS R8 V10 Challenge Extreme Edition generates
710 horsepower and 523 lb-ft of torque. That's an improvement
of 185 hp and 132 ft-lbs over the standard R8 V10.
As you'd expect, the performance figures have also been significantly
altered. The sprint to 60 miles an hour has been dropped from
3.7 seconds to 3.1 seconds. And while the top speed hasn't been
revealed, you can bet your dearest possessions it's faster than
the standard car.
STaSIS haven't limited their work to the engine either. They've
also given the R8 V10 larger brakes courtesy of Alcon, a lower
ride height to give the car better handling and improve the
appearance, and new 20 inch ultra-lightweight forged aluminium
wheels.
The STaSIS R8 V10 Extreme Challenge Edition is available in
the US and UK, and is offered either as a complete car or on
a part-by-part basis.
