The Studio Torino RK Coupe, based on a Porsche Cayman S, was
constructed through a collaboration between Studio Torino and
world renown Porsche tuners RUF.
Design work for the RK Coupe began in late 2005 wen Aldo Brovarone
presented the first sketches of the new coupe. From there the
car progressed to more detailed designs and the modeling phase.
Like the Studio Torino Spyder which came before it, the RK Coupe's
production will be limited to just 49 units, and each car will
be built to the exacting specifications of individual clients.
The design of the Studio Torino RK Coupe's rear hood was inspired
by past greats, like the Dino 246 GT and Porsche 904. The only
piece of bodywork that is left of the original Porsche Cayman
is the left front fender, all others have been exchanged, as
too the rear windscreen.
Part of Studio Torino's build process involves a complicated
and meticulous paint job. Each RK Coupe receives 14 coats of
colored primers, pigment bases, inks and clearcoat. Resulting
in a superb finish with immaculate reflections and colors.
The wheels of the Studio Torino RK Coupe, designed and manufactured
by TOORA exclusively for the Spyder and RK Coupe, are made from
three separate pieces of forged aluminium.
RUF tuned engine choices for the Studio Torino RK Coupe include
an naturally aspirated engine, an injection engine, a Kompressor
engine or a turbocharged engine. The prototype RK Coupe (the
P rototype C 1/1) carried a 3.8 litre Kompressor
unit developing 440 bhp @ 7000 rpm and 470 Nm of torque at 5500
rpm.
