The
Yamaha Apex RTX is powered by a 150 horsepower, Genesis
150FI, 4-cylinder engine which has been developed to develop
high horsepower from a low weight design. The engine’s
high-tech fuel injection system allows for faster throttle
response. The exhaust pipes coming out of the Genesis
150FI engine are configured in a 4-2-1-2 design. The exhaust,
featuring titanium head pipes, adds to the engines
higher output and also reduces weight.
The Deltabox II chassis of the Yamaha Apex RTX was designed
to offer a comfortable rider-forward posture. The ergonomic
layout is achieved by moving the handlebars forward by
6 inches and raising them by 4 inches. The seat is also
roughly 2.5 inches higher and 8 inches forward of previous
models. With this layout, the rider can move easily between
standing and sitting.
The Yamaha Apex RTX features the ProActive CK torsion
spring rear suspension. This was developed through extensive
testing and competing in the USCC circuit. The Apex RTX's
ProActive skid is designated CK for its clicker-adjustable
remote reservoir shock in the rear. Riders have 20 levels
of compression damping adjustment to tune the best ride
for themselves. The ProActive CK offers 11.5 inches of
vertical travel.
