Home > 2010 Jaguar XJ screen
could be illegal in U.S., 09th August 2009

Jaguar's clever dual-view screen which is fitted to the
2010 XJ may be illegal in the United States due to a law
which bans video entertainment systems in the front seat.
The screen itself displays two different pictures depending
on where you're sitting. So for example the driver can
see the sat-nav display while the front-seat passenger
watches a film.
The XJ's designer, and chief designer at Jaguar, Ian Callum
has revealed that. "At the moment, it's technically
illegal."
So unless the law can be amended to allow for double view
screens (where the driver cannot view the entertainment
offerings), the U.S. version of the XJ could miss out
on one the model's innovative highlights.
