Martin and Zagato working on new car, 11th
May 2011

Aston Martin and Zagato have collaborated multiple times
over the previous decades, and to celebrate the 50th anniversary
of their first joint venture, the DB4GT Zagato, the two
companies are working on a new car which will be unveiled
at the Villa D'Este concours in Italy from 21st May.
The car won't just be a styling exercise though, as it'll
be making its racing debut at Nürburgring just a
few days after its motor show debut. Not only that, but
depending on how well the car is judged by potential customers,
a production version could be on offer by 2012.
Dr. Ulrich Bez, Aston Martin's boss man said of the upcoming
car: "The DNA of both Aston Martin and Zagato has
combined successfully to make some of the world's most
desirable collector cars in the past and in this special
anniversary year of the DB4GT Zagato it is appropriate
to explore a modern collaboration.
"Now is the right time for a new Aston Martin Zagato
and in combining our design intelligence I think we can
create something fitting of the iconic DB4GT Zagato that
has gone before and since established itself as one of
the most famous Aston Martins of all time."
Until the car is debuted, this single profile sketch is
the only image which has been released. Based on the proportions
and short front and rear overhangs, our guess is that
the new Zagato/Aston Martin collaboration is based on
the Vantage. Also, because it looks like there's some
additional venting cut into the front-half of the hood,
we're going to go out on a limb and guess there's a V12
under there.
