Respected British auto magazine CAR have estimated what
a 2010 Audi quattro model could look like. The car would
be introduced as part of the 30th anniversary celebrations
for the original rally-dominating quattro model.
CAR predict that the new quattro would be based on the
current S5 model but with significant performance improvements.
The Anniversario model (as CAR are calling it) would be
lighter thanks to new bodywork and a partially stripped
out interior. Other technical features under discussion
include a Flybrid energy recovery system and a 400bhp
version of the TT RS’s five-cylinder turbo.
CAR's sources say that while the quattro's engineering
is pretty much complete. All that remains is for the accountants
at Audi to give the project the green light... Or red
light. But if it's good news the new quattro could be
prowling the streets by 2012.
