'Mega Mac' on its way, 16th May 2011
The UK car magazine Autocar is reporting that some
of their 'inside sources' have confirmed McLaren is working
on an all-new hypercar which will crush the opposition.
The car, which is currently going by the informal internal
designation of 'Mega Mac', is apparently being prepared
for a 2014 debut. Production will be limited to just 500
cars, and the price point is said to be somewhere in the
region of £350,000 - £400,000 ($567,000 -
$648,000).
According to the same sources, the Mega Mac's styling
will be more aggressive and functional looking than the
MP4-12C's,
although it will have a family resemblance to both the
new car and the legendary McLaren
F1.
Powering the as yet unnamed, unseen and unconfirmed car
is a 799 horsepower 5.0 litre V8. Autocar's mole also
reports that the engine will produce its maximum output
at 7,500 rpm, and the peak torque figure of 590 lb-ft
will be found between 3,500-6,800 rpm. As you'd expect,
the guessed-at performance figures are phenomenal.
