Nissan is celebrating their 40th year in the UK, and as part of their self-appointed festivities the company has unveiled a limited edition version of the 370Z. Called the Nissan 370Z GT Edition, the new car offers special body color options, a unique stripe package, gun-metal 19-inch forged alloy wheels, and best of all, an upgrade to the suspension system which offers a balanced blend of sporty handling and enhanced ride comfort.
The styling changes for the 370Z GT Edition are all fairly obvious. There are three colors to choose from; pearl white, metallic black and Black Rose, the latter shade can only be had with the GT Edition. In addition to the new paintwork are rather discreet stripes which run along the flanks of the car. The stripes, which were inspired by the very first ‘Z’ cars of the 1970s, are colored to contrast against the paintwork and they also carry the ‘GT Edition’ logo.
Equipment changes include the fitting of a rear view parking camera as part of the Premium Connect satellite navigation system and the fitment of a tire pressure monitoring system. The seven-speed automatic gearbox option has been given a snow mode which, when applied, sets the car off in second gear and controls engine revs to prevent wheel spin on ice or snow. The underbody insulation has also been improved to reduce road noise.
Nissan say that the 370Z GT Edition was introduced to celebrate their 40th anniversary in the UK, and also commemorate their global success in GT racing. Although rather than strip a standard 370Z down to its basics, therefore making it lighter, faster and more agile – just like a racing car, and also how many UK purists like their cars – Nissan have decided to make more luxurious, add extra options, and in the process add weight.
No matter though. You can’t argue with its looks, and it’s sure to become a sought-after 370Z model in the future.
