RSC Predator GT

RSC Predator GT-RSR

RSC (Rotary Super Cars) of Germany have decided to have another go at designing a rotary-engined super car. Their first effort, the RSC Raptor GT, rightly came in for some heavy criticism for basically being a Ferrari 599 clone. The new car, which is completely different in design also gets a new name, the Predator GT. It might not be the most beautiful supercar in the world, in fact it’s fairly ugly. But at least it’s more original – although this time there seems to be a hint of lamborghini.

RSC is planning on offering four different versions of the Predator GT. The models will include the 500 horsepower Predator GT-S, the 800 horsepower Predator GT-RS,  the 1,200 horsepower Predator GT-RSR, and a race-spec version called the Predator GT-Clubsport which has an unspecified power output.

Despite the vast differences in power, all the models use the same foundations for their mid-mounted engine, a 2.6 litre rotary unit. Various stages of turbocharging seem to be the route RSC is using to develop different power levels. For the top spec Predator GT-RSR RSC are aiming for a 0-62 mph (0-100km/h) time under 3 seconds.

Using a full carbon fiber body, RSC is hoping to keep the Predator GT’s weight to around 1,100 kgs (2,425 lbs).

The fact a startup company can completely redesign an all new supercar in the space of a few months, and then also claim to be aiming for a production date sometime in 2012 makes me more than a little suspicious this is isn’t really a serious project. But it should be. According to RSC, the company’s managing director is Mino A Camilotti, an automotive engineer who was involved in the production of both the Pagani Zonda and the Lamborghini Murcielago. Surely he of all people would understand that you don’t rip off other people’s designs, and supercars aren’t born in a year. If RSC manage to prove me wrong, and I hope they do, then up to twelve Predator GT’s will be leaving the factory each year.

You should recheck these articles, I think you meant Raptor GT on the 2nd line.

It looks as if Lamborghini made the 599.
