*If you happen to live near Pendine Sands in the UK.
Don Wales, grandson of Sir Malcolm Campbell the habitual World Speed Record setter, is currently planning his latest record attempt. Wales hopes to set a new world land speed record for an electric car in 2013. He’s aiming for 500mph, and as part of the record attempt he needs to do lots and lots of speed trials and preparation runs.
Without a main sponsor, yet, the team of around 30 people who are involved with the project are in need of accommodation and feeding when they’re testing at Pendine Sands in the UK. Don Wales is hoping that local volunteers will help out during the weekend of 2/3 July 2011 when the team is in the area. If you’re in the locale, you can help by either putting a roof over an automotive engineer’s head (and perhaps at the same time get some help with your own garage project!), or assist in marshaling the course and keeping it free of debris.
If you’re in the area and want to be part of a world record speed attempt, then email: rebecca[at]bluebirdspeedrecords.com and let them know you’re interested.
