Texas-based tuner Hennessey Performance have been offering a 1,000 horsepower upgrade package for the CTS-V Sedan for a while now. But recently they decided to perform the same monstrous modifications to the CTS-V Coupe, and produce only 12 examples for public consumption.
However the Hennessey Twin Turbo V1000 Cadillac CTS-V Coupe upgrade isn’t just about bolting on the biggest possible turbochargers and hoping for the best. There are numerous modifications to the car which improve power, performance, handling, braking and aerodynamics.
Starting with the engine. Hennessey’s engineers have fitted the 7.0 litre (427ci) V8 with a pair of turbochargers, forged pistons and connecting rods, new camshafts, high flow cylinder heads, an electronic boost controller, upgraded fuel injectors, upgraded fuel lines and pump, air-to-air intercooler, high flow air filter and full stainless steel sports exhaust. To make sure all the modifications work in harmony, the engine’s software has been re-calibrated to take full advantage of all the new components.
With all these changes, the Hennessey Twin Turbo V1000 Cadillac CTS-V Coupe now produces a monumental 1,000 horsepower @ 6,400 rpm, and 950 lb-ft of torque @ 4,000 rpm. That’s enough to allow for a 0-60 mph sprint time of just 3.5 seconds and a claimed 230 mph top speed. The 1/4 Mile figures are equally impressive; 10.9 @ 136 mph.
To cope with all the extra grunt, the transmission system of the Hennessey Twin Turbo V1000 Cadillac CTS-V Coupe has had to be strengthened. The manual transmission option requires a Centerforce Dual Friction clutch upgrade, while the automatic transmission option is fitted with an improved torque converter.
Whenever there’s 1,000 horsepower available at the simple flick of an ankle, a suitably potent braking system is always a good idea. In the case of the Hennessey Twin Turbo V1000 Cadillac CTS-V Coupe it comes in the form of a Brembo carbon-ceramic upgrade with 15.1 inch (384 mm) discs both front and rear, and 8-piston calipers at the front and 6-piston calipers at the rear.
The Hennessey Twin Turbo V1000 Cadillac CTS-V Coupe sits on lowered suspension which brings the car 1-inch (25 mm) lower to the ground. The wheels are 20-inch monoblock units wrapped in Michelin Pilot Super Sport Tires.
The body modification of the Hennessey Twin Turbo V1000 Cadillac CTS-V Coupe consist of a new CarbonAero CTS-V widebody upgrade with a carbon fiber front splitter, rear diffuser, front fenders, vented hood and rear wheel arch extensions.
On the inside, the Hennessey Twin Turbo V1000 Cadillac CTS-V Coupe comes with an Alcantara suede headliner, carbon fiber door sill protectors, enhanced leather trim for the seats, and Hennessey-branded headrests and floormats.
The 12 lucky buyers will also be offered a one-day driver training program with John Heinricy. Hopefully that will be enough to keep the car out of the weeds for a week or two!
