Video: Russian Nissan GTR wipes out in spectacular style

Nissan GTR crash video

A Russian Nissan GTR was caught on camera crashing at high speed into a row of parked cars. From the video it looks like speed was the only contributing factor to the crash, and the GTR driver learnt a painful and expensive lesson in self-restraint.

Despite the significant speeds involved, the GTR seems to emerge from the crash in fairly good shape. Sure the hood has been relocated to the windscreen, and the right-side fender has been forcibly detached from the rest of the car, but the passenger compartment has held up incredibly well.

The three cars which the GTR slammed into bore the brunt of the impact, with the first being tossed aside like it was made of balsa wood, and the second being launched into the air before landing upside down on the third car.

The start of the GTR’s troubles began a bit further up the street, when it tried to undertake a BMW which was driving at normal speeds. You can see a puff of smoke as the GTR locks up during that encounter and the driver begins to lose control.

This video is definitive proof of two things. Firstly, that the limits of high-performance sports cars shouldn’t be tested on public roads – and especially in the middle of a city. And secondly, fancy electronic wizardry, advanced vehicle stability control software and a world-beating AWD system can’t save us from the fools of this world.
