The current Lotus Evora GTE is a race car which was developed with the singular goal of successfully competing in the new global motorsport GTE category – which includes the world famous Le Mans 24 Hours Race. The Lotus Evora GTE Road Car Concept is basically a road-legal version of the race-only Evora GTE.
The great thing about the Lotus Evora GTE Road Car Concept from 2011 is that Lotus haven’t just stuck on some ‘GTE’ badges and called it a tribute to its racing cousin. Oh no. They’ve gone full-out on this one and given the car a 420 horsepower race-bred engine, a sequential racing gearbox, ultra-light forged alloy wheels with center-lock hubs and Pirelli P-Zero Corsa tires. Oh yeah, and they’ve given it some GTE badges.
Compare the power output of the Evora GTE Road Car Concept that to the current top-spec Evora, the Evora S, which produces a healthy 345 horsepower, and you can see how the extra 75 horses in such a light car will make a significant difference to performance.
