Lamborghini is no stranger to ridiculously long names, but 45 characters spread over eight words has to be some kind of record. The Lamborghini Gallardo LP 570-4 Super Trofeo Stradale is the most outrageous Gallardo model yet. It’s basically a street-legal version of the cars used in the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo championship.
Since the Gallardo’s arrival back in 2003 there have been numerous limited editions, commemorative models, anniversary specials and so on. But now the Gallardo is getting to the point of retirement, there needs to be one final hurrah before it is replaced. The Lamborghini Gallardo LP 570-4 Super Trofeo Stradale could be just that.
The Lamborghini Gallardo LP 570-4 Super Trofeo Stradale is powered by a highly-tuned V10 which puts out 570 horsepower @ 8,000 rpm and 540 Nm (398 lb-ft) of torque at 6,500 rpm. The firing order has been changed too, and that has the effect of making the soundtrack more like a thoroughbred racing mill. Like its track-only sibling, the Lamborghini Gallardo LP 570-4 Super Trofeo Stradale is equipped with an electronically controlled six-speed semi-automatic transmission which is operated by steering wheel mounted paddles.
Thanks to a strict diet of carbon fiber the Gallardo’s weight has been reduced to 1,340 kgs (2,954 lbs). Coupled with the boost in power that means it takes just 3.4 seconds to hit 62 miles an hour (100 km/h), and it can keep going all the way up to 200 mph.
But the Lamborghini Gallardo LP 570-4 Super Trofeo Stradale isn’t just about adding power. It’s also got an even more hardcore suspension and steering setup – this car wasn’t meant for leisurely cruising down the boulevard. An integrated roll cage, racing harnesses, and a fire extinguisher all appear on the options list. The bodywork also gets the race-treatment, not just by adding a massive rear spoiler, but also by fitting it with a removable engine cover.
The interior isn’t quite as spartan as the race car, but there is plenty of Alcantara suede to spice things up a bit, and the steering wheel features a marked centerline. Options include sat-nav, Bluetooth, and a useful little button that raises the front suspension for those pesky speed bumps.
The Lamborghini Gallardo LP 570-4 Super Trofeo Stradale is available in three colors; “Rosso Mars” red, “Grigio Telesto” grey, and “Bianco Monocerus” white. Only 150 will be produced.
