MRC Tuning, based in Banbury, England, have just released details and a couple of high definition videos of their latest project. They started out with a first-generation Audi S4 B5, but they ended up with a 700 horsepower monster which has been clocked at an astonishing 204.4 mph at the Bruntingthorpe proving ground in Leicestershire.
The drivetrain modifications include increasing the stroke to raise the displacement from 2.7 litres to 3.0 litres, adding a pair of K24 Hybrid turbos in place of the originals, adding ECU mapped launch control and anti turbo-lag software, and fitting a full sports exhaust which crackles and belches fire on the over run.
The first generation A4 was always a handsome car, but considering it debuted in 1995, its style has stood up to the test of time better than almost every other modern vehicle on the road. MRC Tuning roped roped in bodywork specialist Greg Howell to give their S4 some added visual punch thanks to a fairly subtle wide arch conversion, but the rest of the car’s bodywork is more or less stock. The complimenting multispoke wheels are off a newer RS4.
