‘Flying People’ Take to the Skies of New York

New York Flying People for the movie Chronicle

It’s a bit off-topic, but this viral marketing video is so clever, and kinda vehicle related, that it’s worth sharing. In order to help promote the new supernatural movie ‘Chronicle’, the marketing company behind the 20th Century Fox production commissioned three life-sized, human-shaped RC aircraft. The ‘Flying People’ were then let loose over the skies of New York where they caused quite a sensation.

Up close it’s fairly obvious what they are, but from a distance the silhouette is quite convincing, and drivers on the city’s bridges would probably been more than a little surprised as they looked out over the river only to see a trio of swirling and swooping gravity-defying supermen!

Michael Krivicka from Thinkmodo, the viral video marketing company who created the ad clip, said of the stunt:

“Since the three main characters of the movie have the ability to fly, we came up with the idea of staging a few “flying people” sightings around NYC. We achieved that illusion by having 3 custom-made aircraft (which were shaped like human beings) fly above designated areas in NYC and NJ.”
