So you’ve got yourself a McLaren MP4-12C, but you’ve got bored with the standard car’s 592 horsepower, what should you do? Well the guys at Hennessey Performance believe they have the answer with a new package which takes the MP4-12C’s power output up to 800 horses. At the same time they add a purposeful-looking aerodynamic kit which is designed to increase downforce while inhaling more cooling air for both the engine and transmission.
The HPE800 package for the MP4-12C includes a comprehensive array of upgraded parts, including a new intercooler system, new air intake system, upgraded ball-bearing turbochargers, titanium exhaust, external wastegates, external blow-off valves, recalibrated ECU, enhanced transmission cooler and an upgraded clutch. And that’s just the bits to make it go faster. To make the car look a little more exciting they’ve added a number of carbon fiber aero bits, monoblock wheels wrapped in Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires, and on the inside they’ve screwed in a few carbon fiber trim elements and added some Alcantara and leather upholstery.
In a blatant compliment to the engineers at McLaren, Hennessey haven’t messed with the suspension or brakes, because, in their own words; ” the factory systems will be difficult to improve upon.”
“We’ve been taking fast cars and have been making them faster for over twenty years,” said company founder and president John Hennessey. “I spent a lot of time around the new 12C at the 2011 Goodwood Festival of Speed and was very impressed. We’re excited to have the opportunity to take a great car and give it our own special performance touch while giving 12C owners a uniquely aggressive appearance”.
The Hennessey HPE800 Twin Turbo modification for the McLaren MP4-12C will be available as an entire package, as well as some individual parts. Pricing has not yet been announced.
