Mercedes-Benz Citan

Mercedes-Benz Citan van

The Mercedes-Benz Citan is an all-new urban delivery van which has been developed by Mercedes-Benz in collaboration with Renault-Nissan. The Citan will join Mercedes’ other commercial vans, the Sprinter and the Vito, and be the smallest of the trio. The name Citan was derived from the words “City” and “Titan” – apparently in an effort to help market the vehicle as both high-tech and rugged.

The Mercedes-Benz Citan was designed to be practical, economic and safe. The choice of drivetrains includes economical and low-emission diesel and gasoline engines  -  including a BlueEFFICIENCY package. An electric powered version of the Citan is already being planned.

The interior of the Mercedes-Benz Citan has been fitted with more upmarket materials and trim than its competitors. It’s obviously nowhere near as luxurious as your average Mercedes car, but for a work van it should be fairly nice.

The European market launch of the Mercedes-Benz Citan will take place in the autumn of 2012. It will be on show to the general public for the first time in September at the IAA Commercial Vehicles show in Hanover. When it goes on sale it will be available as a panel van, crewbus or Mixto in various lengths and weight categories.
