Volkswagen GT up! Concept

Volkswagen’s new microcar, the up!, is barely out of diapers but already there’s a hot version on the way. The Volkswagen GT up! Concept is a preview of what VW’s production engineers are working on at the moment. The Volkswagen GT up! Concept isn’t exactly the most exciting or powerful hot hatch ever created. But it does bring a few extra sporty touches to what is otherwise an extremely practical and economic city car.

The wide central grille of the concept is noticeably larger than that on the standard up!. VW haven’t divulged the details of the engine, but they say it could develop over 100 horsepower. Not much in a normal family car, but fairly generous in a superlight compact car.

Volkswagen Buggy Up!


Volkswagen Buggy Up!

In order to promote their all-new Up! model, at this year’s Frankfurt Motor Show Volkswagen chose to display a number of concept cars derived from the car’s compact platform. The Volkswagen Buggy Up! concept was by far the most eye-catching.

The Volkswagen Buggy Up! was inspired by the Beetle-based Volkswagen Buggies which started appearing in the 1960s. However the styling is based on Volkswagen’s most recent models. The Buggy Up! is slightly longer, wider and lower than the standard Up!, measurements which suit the car’s character.
