Mercedes-Benz have always been at the forefront of automotive
innovation, and the F500 Mind concept from the 2003 Tokyo
Auto Show was no exception.
Designed to showcase upcoming advanced systems, the F500
Mind is equipped with programmable instrument guages which
project their display through a semi-transparent mirror
and highlight the most relevant information for the driver
to see. The voice operated control system uses ultrasonic
technology to accuratly direct audio responses so that
only the driver is aware of the information, the passengers
remain undisturbed.
The F500 Mind's night vision system, using two infrared
headlights and a windscreen mounted camera, scans the
road ahead for a distance of 500 feet (150 meters), displaying
the enhanced image on a screen mounted in the center console.
