The OCE is powered by an interchangeable "Smart Battery"
The OCE (One Common Energy) concept is a creation of Yongbang Ho, a South Korean designer currently studying for his MA in Transportation Design at the UMEA Institute of Design in Sweden.

The OCE concept was created for the 2009 Michelin Challenge Design competition and was one of the concepts displayed at the 2009 Detroit Motor Show.

The overriding principle of the OCE concept revolves around the idea of a common power source which can be used in a number of different vehicles. For example, the initial purchase would be for a car and battery, however when the time comes to change to a new vehicle consumers could just buy the basic vehicle without a power source as the battery pack can be swapped between vehicles.

This battery is not just a simple device. It consists of a battery, CPU - which has a customized user interface and a communication function. It plays the role of today's engine, battery and other main control systems.

The illuminated panel above the rear mounted battery packs displays the current charge level of the vehicle.
