Engine 5.0 L ethanol fueled V8

The Saleen S5S Raptor was displayed at the 2008 New York Motor Show. The concept was designed to be a significantly lower-priced replacement for Saleen's discontinued supercar, the Saleen S7.

Under the curvaceous body of the Saleen S5S Raptor lies a mid-mounted 5.0 litre V8 engine which can run on either conventional petrol or 85% ethanol fuel. Power output for this unit stands at an impressive 650 horsepower and 630 ft-lbs or torque. Mated to this is a six-speed manual transmission driving the 20" rear wheels. 0-60 mph takes just 3.2 seconds, while the top speed is around 200 mph.

To help keep weight down and performance up, the Saleen S5S Raptor uses a lightweight aluminium chassis hidden under a composite body.
