The Hellbender amphibious vehicle is the product of students
and staff at Mosquito net [ma] Sanyo high school.
The goal was to create a lightweight road legal amphibious
vehicle which didn't require a boating license.
The Hellbender's body is formed from FRP plastic and power
for the vehicle comes from a 50cc air cooled 2 stroke
engine developing 5.6 horsepower at 6,500 rpm.
In order to assist the Hellbender's floatation the two
orange pontoons located behind the driver are lowered
before entering the water and raised on leaving to improve
ground clearance.
