The
Bimota DB7 was unveiled at the 2007 Milan Motor Show. The DB7
is powered by the same twin-cylinder engine found in the Ducati 1098.
The chassis of the Bimota DB7 consists of a hybrid oval tube
trellis frame and swing arm. The rear swingarm is connected
directly to the engine, and uses a Extreme Tech monoshock (which
was developed in conjunction with Bimota) to make up the rear
suspension. The front suspension is handled by Marzocchi Corse
43mm forks with DLC (Diamond Like Coating) treatment which provides
smooth, predictable compression.
The Bimota DB7's front brakes consist of twin 320mm discs working
with Brembo four piston calipers. At the rear a 230mm disc is
gripped by a Brembo 2 piston caliper.
The top section of the Bimota DB7's fairing is formed from carbon
fibre, as is the tail section, to help reduce weight. The use
of self-supporting carbon fibre in these areas means that there
is no need for separate subframes to support the clocks and
headlights, and the seat unit.
